Description: Praxis, Inc., a leading-edge technology company providing
high-quality engineering and IT services to government and
industry, is searching for a Spacecraft Structures Lead
Engineer to work at the Naval Research Laboratory in
Washington DC.

Responsibilities:
Work as the lead structures engineer on a complex
satellite design program for the Naval Research
Laboratory. Specific responsibilities include, but are not
limited to, the following:
• Lay out the space vehicle structure and position
elements including antennas, feeds, scan drive systems,
electronic boxes, solar panels, and deployment mechanisms
• Guide the efforts of a team of designers working in
Unigraphics to design individual elements
• Work with stress analysis and thermal designers to
ensure the overall structure is flightworthy
• Serve as the mechanical lead for cost and schedule of
all structural elements of the space vehicle design.
Successful candidates should have prior experience in
space vehicle layout and design. Experience using 3-D
mechanical design software is required, with experience
using Unigraphics strongly preferred.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
and 10 years aerospace mechanical design experience, or
master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and
7 years aerospace mechanical design experience.
• Expertise in one or more 3-D design tools (Unigraphics
preferred).
• Experience designing space vehicles to Class 1
requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, team
oriented, flexible, innovative and able to perform well in
an unstructured environment are all required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Project, Word,
Excel, PowerPoint) preferred

Security Clearance:
• Must be a US Citizen
• Selected applicant will be subject to a government
security investigation and must meet eligibility
requirements associated with access to classified
information
• A Secret clearance is required immediately. Ability to
obtain higher clearance desired.
