|Description:||Praxis, Inc., a leading-edge technology company providing

industry, is searching for a Senior Spacecraft Stress
Engineer to work at the Naval Research Laboratory in
Work as the lead stress analyst on a complex satellite
design program for the Naval Research Laboratory. Specific
responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the
• Apply finite element methods (FEM) to analyze stress and
deformation in spacecraft mechanisms and structures
• Work with mechanical designers and mechanisms engineers
to ensure the structural integrity of the space vehicle
under launch and flight loads
• Provide inputs to structural dynamicists.
Successful candidates should be familiar with space
vehicle structure design margins and have prior experience
in space vehicle stress analysis using FEM design tools.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
and 10 years aerospace mechanical design experience, or
master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and
7 years aerospace mechanical design experience.
• Expertise in one or more Finite Element Method (FEM)
design tools, such as NASTRAN.
• Experience performing stress analysis on space vehicles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, team
oriented, flexible, innovative and able to perform well in
an unstructured environment are all required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Project, Word,
Excel, PowerPoint) preferred
• Must be a US Citizen
• Selected applicant will be subject to a government
security investigation and must meet eligibility
requirements associated with access to classified
• A Secret clearance is required immediately. Ability to
obtain higher clearance desired.
